In 2005 Nathan Creek recorded their next project called This Side of Solitude. Patrick again asked me to record on two tracks. They were Spent and The Tragedy Remains. He also wanted to know if Darren Lyda from Judah/Cross Eyed Clyde would lay down vocals. Since Darren & I were still working together it was no problem.

This session put me into a different seat. I was not only wearing the bass hat, I was now wearing a soundman/producer hat as well. With a basic vocal pattern that Patrick recorded to follow, I was allowed (or took) a little creative license. I recruited my wife Tori Close to lay down some backup vocals on Spent. The recording turned out great and Patrick really liked what was done.

The next song, The Tragedy Remains called for a bigger female vocal part. And Tori stepped up to the challenge. Both Tori & Darren sang their parts well. So a powerful song become more powerful with the male/female duet. The Tragedy Remains was well received and even has some airplay on a couple of radio stations.

Tori Close is a loving wife, mother and stay at home Mom. She occupies her time by smiling and nodding at Derek's "ideas" and doing web design. Her current projects include: SpazMagic Web Solutions, ToriClose.com and Digi-Darlings Digital Scrapbooking.
